The Garage Sale Trail

Daniers Rainbow Garage Sale 1

On the weekends of 12th-13th and 19th-20th November Dainere’s Rainbow had the very special opportunity to join the annual Garage Sale Trail which has become Australia’s festival of pre-loved stuff, dedicated to helping extend the life of everyday items and for people to find the ultimate pre-loved gem. Something special about taking part in this event is that in 2021 over 200,000 Australians were able to extend the life of over 1.5 million kilograms of items that would have normally ended up in landfill, they also maximised the value of all the energy and resources that goes into making the things we buy.  By being part of the Garage Sale Trail we played a role in a circular economy in action.

Daniers Rainbow Garage Sale 2For both Saturday’s we had perfect weather, however on the Sunday’s we had a storm one week and cold and windy weather the next, however this did not stop those who love Garage Sales from venturing out to take a look and find a treasure whilst learning about the work Dainere’s Rainbow do to make a difference for children diagnosed with a childhood brain tumour in Canberra and the research work that we support that helps children in Canberra, surrounding areas and all around Australia.

Putting the Garage Sale together took many hours of collecting, preparing, cleaning, pricing, marketing, setting up and attractively presenting items.  We feel so extremely fortunate to have had so many truly incredible treasures for the Garage Sale and we wish to take this opportunity to express our most heartfelt and humbled gratitude to the following people who along with our family contributed quality items for our shoppers: Anne, David and friends, Monique, Mark and Annie, Ellen and our neighbour.

We are honoured to announce that $182.00 was raised and this will make an impact to the world class research projects and programs at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, Kids Cancer Centre that are set up in memory of and as a legacy to our inspiring, selfless and beloved Dainere.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we meet and work, the Ngunnawal people, and the many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from across Australia who have now made Canberra their home. We celebrate and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of the ACT and region.
