Why we began

Dainere’s Rainbow was established in memory of and as a legacy to Dainere in conjunction with The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation to support the research of the devoted Professor David Ziegler and his team who are working towards improving the outcomes for all children diagnosed with brain cancer.

About Dainere

Dainere was the most courageous, selfless and inspiring young person you could ever meet, she worked passionately and tirelessly during her short life to elevate significant awareness and raise vital funds for childhood brain cancer. Her greatest wish in life was that no children in the future would have to suffer as she did and that one day a cure for this horrendous disease will become a reality.

Meet Our Ambassador

Michael Bower has been a Marriage and Funeral Celebrant for over 10 years, and has been a professional MC for over 40 years. He loves what he does whether meeting a newly engaged couple to help them make their Wedding Day exactly what they want, helping a family plan a Celebration of Life or working as MC at an Awards Night, Charity Fundraiser or a Wedding Reception, it never feels like work!

Head Researcher

Professor David Ziegler is a paediatric oncologist, haematologist and bone marrow transplant physician. He has a subspecialisation in neuro-oncology and cares for children with benign and malignant brain tumours. He has a particular interest in developing and testing new treatments for children with incurable cancers.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we meet and work, the Ngunnawal people, and the many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from across Australia who have now made Canberra their home. We celebrate and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of the ACT and region.
