Helping Through The Storms To Get To The Rainbow
Dainere’s Rainbow was established in memory of and as a legacy to Dainere in conjunction with The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation to support the research of the devoted Professor David Ziegler and his team who are working towards improving the outcomes for all children diagnosed with brain cancer; through a comprehensive research program in the laboratory that stretches from investigating the basic biology and genetics of childhood brain tumours, identifying agents that induce a profound anti-tumour effect, safer treatment options, the implementation of novel treatment strategies in state of the art clinical trials, innovative personalised medicine, collaborations with local, national and international groups and ultimately find a cure.
As a family we are on a mission to make a significant impact in helping to eradicate this number one disease killer of children in Australia. We are committed and dedicated to increasing and promoting education, knowledge and awareness of childhood brain cancer within the Community.
You are not alone, through our lived experience of childhood brain cancer, we are there to support families with empathy and understanding during this unimaginable time, providing practical and helpful support and connecting you to services and others in the wider community.
Another area we are devoted and passionate about is working to improve and advance Paediatric Palliative Care Services in Canberra and beyond. Again, through our lived experience as a family, and the challenges of this being a difficult subject we want this to change and for families to feel supported. An extension of this work is the altruistic contributions we are making towards children’s funerals and parent and sibling grief and bereavement projects and services.
