Andante Andante Choir Christmas Fundraiser

Andante Andante Choir Christmas Fundraiser Img 1This Event was organised by our wonderful Committee Members Anne and David, who are long time members of the Andante Andante Choir Inc. AKA the ABBA Choir who so very kindly hosted this incredible evening to elevate awareness of paediatric brain tumours and raise funds for Dainere’s Rainbow.

Due to 2018 selling out so quickly, this year a new venue was sought that catered for a larger number of guests to attend, the perfect location was found: Burgmann Anglican School in Gungahlin.

The evening was a huge success; attracting larger numbers than in previous years and the venue provided the perfect backdrop and acoustics for an extra special evening. The guests were thoroughly entertained and delighted by this incredibly talented group of amazing people and even learning a little extra about ABBA and the songs of the evening.  Feet were tapping, the entire room sang along, and the smiles and joy lit up the room. Everyone was certainly given a Christmas gift of favourite and not so well-known ABBA tribute music.

Then everyone joined in heartily singing along to Christmas Carols, the children who attended were invited up to play the ‘sleigh bells’ for Jingle Bells and the evening finished off with dimming the lights and a host of beautiful voices singing Silent Night.

There were two fabulous lucky door prizes which were so generously donated by Anne and David, a raffle with three outstanding prizes on offer and a scrumptious supper.

We are delighted and honoured to announce that $1223.00 (a record amount) was raised on the evening with 100% of those funds going directly to supporting the dedicated and vital research projects and programs of Associate Professor Ziegler and his team at Sydney Children’s Hospital Kids Cancer Centre, to bring hope, improve outcomes and create change for every child diagnosed with a brain tumour in Australia.

We were able to share important information about Dainere, the fund and everything we do from awareness raising, fundraising, our upcoming events and supporting families through advocacy and lobbying.

We wish to express our most heartfelt and humble gratitude to the entire Andante Andante Choir and to all the guests who attended on the evening.  We are looking forward to offering this ever growing and special event again for Christmas 2020.

Some information for you about The Andante Andante Choir – a choir for all ages based in Braddon, ACT. The name is drawn from a song of the same title written by ABBA which can be found on the Super Trouper album. ‘Andante’ also has a musical reference – it means gently or easy walking pace.

Andante Andante Choir Christmas Fundraiser Img 2The Andante Andante Choir is available for performances and is always ready to welcome new members. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9pm, at St. Columba’s Uniting Church, Braddon, ACT.

If you’re interested in joining the choir, feel free to call or email the choir, or just drop into one of our rehearsals. The choir’s year is broken into 4 terms, each term consists of 10 weeks of rehearsals.

Potential choir members are welcome to come along for two weeks just for a look before making a financial commitment.  No previous training or choir experience is necessary as the Musical Director is also a vocal coach. However, previous singing experience would give you an advantage. The choir does NOT hold auditions and aims for rehearsals to be a positive experience for members. Rehearsals are relaxed and friendly.
