2024 Andante Andante ABBA Choir Christmas Fundraising Event

On Sunday 8th December, a special musical event was held in the beautiful St Columba’s Uniting Church in Braddon by the Andante Andante (ABBA) Choir. This annual event raises much needed funds for Dainere’s Rainbow and the Choir considers this event the most special in their calendar of performances. The Choir has an enduring association with Dainere’s Rainbow and long may this continue!

Along with the popular and groovy ABBA songs, the Choir also sang Christmas Carols in the spirit of the season, along with very enthusiastic audience participation! And as always, the singing of Silent Night was very special, and brought a tear to many eyes.

The Choir is truly fortunate to have the amazingly talented Katie, the choir Musical Director and musical accompanist Katrina on piano and bass guitar and several other accomplished choir members contributing to the ever-increasing musical talent of the choir.

This year the guests were treated to the heartwarming and meaningful dance moves of Xtreme Stars.  A vibrant ensemble of young adults with disabilities who radiate an infectious energy that captivates everyone in their path. With their big, beaming smiles and an unwavering passion for performance, they bring a unique blend of enthusiasm to the stage. Each member, embracing their individuality, moves with an exuberant spirit that turns every routine into a celebration. Their love for entertaining shines through every step and twirl, leaving audiences uplifted and inspired by their talent and joyful presence.

The evening was topped off by a raffle consisting of four incredible prizes, a generous lucky door prize and several delicious plates of savoury and sweet foods, accompanied by soft beverages.  With immense gratitude to those Choir members who contributed to the food and drinks.

We are delighted to announce that the evening raised an astounding $1525.00 of which 100% is donated to the tireless and passionate work of Professor Ziegler and his research team who are working towards a future where there is a cure for childhood brain cancer in memory of and as a legacy to Dainere.

The Dainere’s Rainbow Team remain endlessly, humbly and sincerely grateful to the Andante Andante (ABBA) Choir for their endearing and significant support through this annual event.  We look forward to another special evening of working together to bring hope and create change in December 2025.  Watch the Dainere’s Rainbow website and social pages for information and book early to avoid disappointment.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we meet and work, the Ngunnawal people, and the many other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from across Australia who have now made Canberra their home. We celebrate and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of the ACT and region.
